President: Jonathan Hansen, PharmD

Jonathan Hansen earned his PharmD from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2012 and completed a PGY-1 residency in community pharmacy in collaboration with Oklahoma University and Osborn Drugs. He has been with Graves Drugs/Damm Pharmacies for over 12 years and currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer for six Damm Pharmacy locations. Jonathan has been married for over 20 years and has four children.

Immediate Past President: Sandie Kueker, RPh

Sandie and her husband, Adam, own three independent community pharmacies in Central Kansas. A 1998 graduate of the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy, she has experience across various pharmacy settings, shaping her innovative practice style. She has been a pioneer in integrating clinical services into community retail pharmacies, always with the goal of "caring for patients in the way we want our own families cared for.” Her accomplishments include receiving the 2015 Sunflower Health MTM Champion Award, being named Kansas Pharmacist of the Year in 2017, and earning the NASPA Excellence in Innovation Award in 2018. Sandie is a member of several boards, including Kansas CPESN, McKesson NIAB, Bluestem Communities, and NMC Health. Together with Adam, she enjoys life with their three wonderful children — Joey, Katie, and Jacob — and their energetic dog, Kali.

Treasurer: Sam Melendez, CPhT

Sam Melendez is a dedicated pharmacy professional and community leader with more than 18 years of experience in the pharmacy industry. He began his career as a pharmacy technician in 2008, developing a strong foundation in patient care and independent pharmacy operations. Throughout his career, Sam has held various leadership roles, including owning and operating Consumers Pharmacy before joining the leadership team at Damm Pharmacies. In his current role, he focuses on staff development, operational efficiency, and enhancing patient care across all eight Damm Pharmacies and Graves Drug locations. Beyond pharmacy, Sam serves on the Boards of Directors for the Wichita Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Guadalupe Clinic, where he is passionate about strengthening community partnerships, supporting local businesses, and expanding access to healthcare.

KPhA is a volunteer member-led organization, and its Board of Directors is responsible for being the primary leaders of the association who provide direction and act as KPhA's liaisons to its members. Academy leaders are elected every other year - some positions in odd years, others in even years.
