Steven Burghart Dies Following Battle with Cancer

Jen Clark • July 13, 2023

KPhA is saddened to share the news of Steven Burghart's death on July 10 at his home in Baldwin City after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer.

Steven was a clinical pharmacist at KU Medical Center and a leader in the field of psychiatric pharmacy. As a past president of the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists, he contributed greatly to the development of that field. Here in Kansas, we were most appreciative of his years of service to our Committee on Impaired Pharmacy Practice. CIPP members were proud to award Steven the Bill Bays Award in 2020 for lending his talents to both pharmacy and community groups to raise awareness regarding prescription drug abuse.

Services took place Saturday, July 15, at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Basehor, KS. Steven was laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Topeka, KS.
